Why We Built IMGVO

Every day, millions of people upload their personal photos and business images to third-party servers just to perform simple conversions. That data is often stored, analyzed, or monetized — and users rarely know it's happening.

We built IMGVO to change that. By leveraging modern browser APIs (Canvas, WebAssembly, and the File System Access API), we can convert, compress, resize, and process images entirely on your device. No server ever sees your files. Not even ours.

The result is a tool that is not only more private — it's also faster. No upload time, no queue, no waiting for a server response. Your images are processed at the speed of your own hardware.

🛡️

Our Core Principles

🔒
Privacy by Architecture
We don't ask for permission to be private. Our tools are built so that privacy is the only possible outcome. No login, no tracking, no data collection.
Speed Without Compromise
Browser-based processing means no round trips to a server. A 20MB file processes in milliseconds, not minutes.
🎯
Accuracy You Can Trust
Every compression ratio, format conversion, and resize operation is accurate and tested. We document what each tool does and why.
Accessible to Everyone
Our tools are keyboard-navigable, screen-reader-friendly, and work on low-end devices. Great tools should be available to everyone.
🔬

How the Technology Works

IMGVO uses a combination of the browser's native Canvas API for format conversion and resizing, WebAssembly modules for AVIF and advanced compression, and IndexedDB for locally-stored conversion history — none of which require a network connection after the initial page load.

Our compression algorithm adapts to each image's content. Photos with complex detail get different treatment than flat-color illustrations or screenshots. The goal is always the smallest file at the best perceptible quality.

We publish detailed guides about how image compression works, when to use JPG vs PNG, and the best image formats for web — because informed users make better decisions.
